Hair transplant by Sapphire micro FUE method
Micro FUE (Follicular Units Extraction) is an innovative and one of the most modern methods of hair transplantation, ensuring natural results and faster skin regeneration than in the FUT method. In this method, all the necessary hair structures are transplanted, including stem cells responsible for its growth. The micro FUE method consists in taking grafts (1 graft has 1-4 hairs) from the donor area and transplanting it into the recipient area.
The use of sapphire blades in the micro FUE method instead of the steel ones used in the classic FUE method minimizes the formation of scabs and accelerates the regeneration process at the recipient site. DHI method
DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is currently one of the most advanced techniques of hair transplantation – not only in Turkey, but also all over the world. Extraction is the same as in the FUE method, only the implantation process differs. It is used with special implanters, the so-called feathers (choi), which allow for better control of the depth and direction of grafts embedding in the skin.
In contrast to the FUE method, during the DHI implantation method, site formation and graft implantation are performed simultaneously, i.e. extraction and implantation are combined as part of a one- or two-step process, deposition of the extracted hair follicles occurs directly in the reception areas without the need to create canal incisions in donor area. The main advantage of this technique is that you do not need to completely shave your head. With this method, you can also easily increase the thickness of the hair by implanting a hair follicle in between the existing hair.
This method of hair transplantation has another significant advantage, when the hair follicles are reseated between the existing hair, the practitioner can clearly see the natural angle of hair growth and thus ideally position each hair follicle to match the existing hair. These unique advantages of the DHI method are especially useful for beard and eyebrow transplantation as this technique gives the patient better aesthetic results in terms of hair density and therefore overall appearance. The most important advantage, however, is the total guarantee of no scarring, because no incisions are made in the DHI method, which is especially important in the case of facial hair transplantation. The indications for a hair transplant are: androgenic alopecia, post-traumatic alopecia, alopecia after burns, improved scar appearance, hair loss and asymmetry in the area of eyebrows, mustaches and chin.
Using the DHI method, after the hair transplant, you do not see any scars in the areas from which the hair follicles are collected. The micro FUE technique leaves only tiny and diffuse micro scars (hypopigmented or hyperpigmented) invisible to the naked eye, which allows the possibility of wearing very hairstyles in the future. With either of these methods, patients may see red dots and micro bruises immediately after the grafts are extracted, which resolve within a few days after the procedure. The advantage of micro FUE and DHI methods is also a short recovery time.
The hair transplant procedure is painless. The patient may only feel discomfort during the administration of anesthesia. Most Meditravel patients did not experience any discomfort or pain, both during the procedure and in the following days.
The hair transplant procedure usually takes 4 to 8 hours. Most patients rest during this time watching movies or listening to music. Some of our patients even fall asleep during the procedure.
During the hair transplant procedure, we collect the grafts needed to cover the hair loss area, depending on the amount of hair in the donor area. As a rule, it is between 3000-3500 to even 5000 grafts for a very good donor area. Each graft has between one and four hairs, hence the 5,000 graft transplant procedure equals 10,000 – 12,000 individual hairs.
In the weeks following the hair transplant, the new transplanted hair will alternately grow and fall out. This is nothing to worry about, this is perfectly normal. The important thing is that the new hair roots are embedded in the scalp. The first new hair grows from 3-4 months after the treatment, the greatest increase will be visible after about 6 months. The full effects will be visible 9 to 15 months after the transplant.
It is recommended that you return to work only 2-3 days after the procedure. If the patient is engaged in heavy physical work, a two-week break is recommended. Avoid physical activity and exercise, it is advisable to avoid places where there is an increased risk of scalp infection (e.g. swimming pool and sauna). After two weeks, low-intensity physical activity can begin, and after three weeks, moderate-intensity activity is allowed. Most of our patients return to their normal activities and work a few days after the hair transplant.

10 days before the procedure, you should stop taking aspirin and drinking alcohol, as well as supplements and medications for hair loss, including rubs. Loxon hair loss cosmetics should not be used. Contraindications to the hair transplant procedure are: advanced diabetes, unregulated arterial hypertension, inflammatory diseases of the scalp, alopecia areata, blood coagulation disorders, allergy to anesthetics, cancer.
Hair loss in androgenetic alopecia follows a specific pattern. People suffering from androgenetic alopecia, or male pattern baldness (especially men) lose their hair mainly above the forehead line and on the top of the head. Hair on the back of the head (on the sides) and on the back of the head does not tend to fall out, and is often even very thick. The hair follicles in these areas are resistant to the harmful effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone – androgen hormone). Hair follicles with surrounding tissue are collected from the occiput and transplanted into recipient areas. In rare cases, hair is taken from the chin or body to further increase the density of the graft.
The minimum stay in Istanbul is 3 days, i.e. 2 hotel nights. On the 1st day after arrival, blood is taken for analysis, on the 2nd day there is a consultation with a doctor and the hair transplant procedure is performed, and on the 3rd day the dressings are removed, there is an inspection with a doctor who evaluates the first treatment results and returns home. In the first days after the FUE hair transplant, you need to be especially careful not to damage the transplanted hair. After the procedure, the patient will be put on a special band to reduce head swelling. To protect the head from the sun, the patient will receive a hat, which should be worn for about 3 days.
